Fauré Requiem & Messiah Selections Holiday Concert - November 19, 2019
Westview High School Performing Arts Center | San Diego, California

In a night of inspired music, the choir performed Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, the best known of his larger works, as well as solo and chorus selections from George Frideric Handel’s Messiah. They were accompanied by twelve local professional musicians to form a full chamber orchestra. The two featured soloists were soprano Allyson Power and baritone Anthony Whitson-Martini.
Fauré’s Requiem is a uniquely beautiful mass for the dead which director Gray described as "intimate, comforting and a more peaceful view of death." The selections from Handel’s Messiah, a holiday favorite, included the pastoral symphony, solo arias, and the popular “Hallelujah” chorus.
